This is not a picture book...the picture is in the telling/writing of the story... Mills paints a wonderful picture of Nelle [Harper] and her sister Lee in their daily environment. I love all the details she paints into her story. Alice sent Marja Mills a letter of apology when Nelle's attorney stated Nelle did not agree with the book. It's on the web check it out!
