Laura Grave I’m glad I’m not the only one! I feel even more strongly about this now with the current discourse around some people’s fears that men masquerading as trans women will be using female toilets for nefarious reasons… I think this kind of narrative will only continue to feed those fears unfortunately!

Skye Winegar I completely agree and it sours my feelings on Alice as an author. I actually found your question by googling “Alice Feeney” and “transphobic” and didn’t find much else, which is helpful (knowing she hasn’t written a direct transphobic diatribe like other female British authors we know)
But that aspect of this book still makes me uncomfortable to say the least.

Laura Grave Ha, yes - totally agree with that! Hopefully it’s just a one-off but it does make me wary of reading more from her!

Skye Winegar I read this one because daisey darker was soooo good. So just so you know that one is safe and I found it unproblematic for the genre.
