Kelly These topics are conversation pieces in the lunchroom and before and after school. Why not in a classroom with an educated adult to help the student address the issues and answer questions.

Jen If my child would like to discuss these topics, I would rather he discuss them at home with his father and myself. I do not feel that school is the place that should be teaching my child his/ her values. Given the nature of experiences presented in this book, I feel that many middle schoolers are not mature enough to handle the processing that goes along with the topic.

Natasha I understand your anger over teenage sex in a book, but I think that homosexual relationships are a perfectly appropriate topic for children of all ages. Depictions of lgbt people in children's literature can help young people feel okay about their own identities.

Korianne Johnson Thank you for the "to the point" topics in this book. Very helpful when choosing material for my kids to read. Everyone has a different level of comfort...wish we had a rating system for books like we do for movies so that we can make choices accordingly. I appreciate your honesty....

Sharon Pineault burke Do you have no students who identify as gay?

Maya Homosexual relationships is not a reason to withhold a book from anybody - love is love; don't spread homophobic hate. It's 2021 now - get on the right side of history.
