I'm always very aware the whole massive publishing machinery isn't going anywhere if I don't get the book in. Whole ranks of editors, copy editors, proofreaders, cover designers, publicity and marketing depts and Zara Ramm are literally poised to rip the manuscript from me and do their thing. I shall tentatively place your suggestion re the flexibility of deadlines before them and watch them implode. It will be fun!!!
