There is much more than that in my opinion. Location of the little girl's body. Manner of death. They are both child pageant girls. The original theory of the JonBenet case plays out in the book..
I know wikipedia is.. well, wikipedia.. but look up JonBenet and read the first few paragraphs!

I know it's not exactly the same, but the entire time I was reading I just kept coming back to, "this has to be a JB theory/conspiracy come to life."

Ashley flowers does retellings of stories all the time on Crime Junkie! I loved this book. I think she is staying true to what she does by explaining a murder mystery with all the questions included for sure!
I loved the epilogue. I loved her writing. Will probably read it again in the future!

Also the broken basement window, the fact that some note was left behind, same age, has a brother who was in the spotlight for the case… a few too many similarities.
