Viktoria Winter I don't think Chaol "deserves better" than Celaena because I see no wrong doing on her part. She and Dorian shared a harmless kiss months before Chaol decided to be up front about his affections towards her. That's in no way her fault, nor should she be prejudiced because of it. And I don't think Chaol and Celaena's relationship should be put down because she "slept with his best friend" because Dorian and Celaena never were anything other than friends. They only shared a kiss. Meanwhile, Chaol and Celaena went a bit farther. But it wasn't like they were sneaking around and cheating on Dorian, who is BOTH of their friends. Rowan and Aelin slept in the same bed because fae males are overprotective and Aelin was hurt during that time. Also, they were subconsciously bonding which drew them closer. As for her relationship with Rowan in regards to their bloodlines, she is about as related to him as she is to Dorian. I wouldn't mind if she ended up with none of them. She's such a potent character that SJM would be able to pull that off. But, I still think her and Rowan are closer than her and any other character (at the moment). Anything is possible.

Viktoria Winter Chaol was the one person whom Celaena trusted the most (at the time) and was also the one person who she associated with and knew of what the King had planned. He didn’t want to tell Celaena, not because he was afraid for her, but rather because he was afraid of what she might do. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Chaol, but I just think his blind loyalty to the king was aggravating. Be that as it may, Celaena didn’t tell Chaol that she was fae because it was obvious to her that although he loved her, he also slightly feared her and she didn’t know where his loyalties resided. (I’m glad we’re getting to see Chaol move beyond that and joining the rebels!) Not to mention, it wasn’t just Chaol that she never told her true identity to. She never told Sam that she was fae, either. She did that for her survival; good for her. I admire her self-preservation because plenty of other YA characters seem to be lacking that aspect. And as for Rowan and Aelin, I can only hope things grow stronger between them! Cannot wait for QoS :)

Azizia Worst case scenario, we will make up own own ending.

message 10: by Isabel (new)

Isabel I always have mixed feelings about the whole friendship turned romance trope but oh man I am SO GLAD I was not the only one shipping Rowan and Celaena. Like throw in some bonding/mate stuff and I am a goner. Seriously, SJM just developed their friendship so so so brilliantly. And your list of 13 things - completely on point. Just to add to it - they've both loved and lost and understand that pain of death so deeply.

message 11: by Jessica (new)

Jessica YES! I agree with you all the way! Rowan and Celaena have the best (and most interesting) relationship so far in my opinion and I literally agree 100% with everything you wrote. I'm glad so many other people also prefer this pairing as well! :D

*let's hope for the best for Rowan + Celaena in/after QoS!*

Chaol did accept Celaena, remember that he was raised to hate magic, and was loyal to the king, like the Captain of the Guard should be. He gave up a lot, just to support her, and eventually came into compliance to Celaena's Fae side. I'm not trying to hate, I'm just saying that even though it took a while for Chaol to accept everything about her, he eventually did.
