I’m amazed how few people bother to read Acknowledgements at the end.
Her grandfather’s advice.
It’s - the ending - a clever mystery that’s gotten people talking (which I feel all good Art should do), but she’s followed her grandfather’s advice and handed us a very clear, beautifully written clue at the end of her first paragraph.
