Hi Misty,
I can understand why you do not want to disclose the location.
I read where you had the chance to talk with the man that had his tongue cut off by his Mother when he was 4 years old and His Father seared it with a hot iron from the stove! (how can Parents be so CRUEL?) could you understand him OK when you talked with him? I watched TV where they had Amish teenagers and one said his Mother stuck his tongue with a pin and I thought that was bad, another boy said he used to like to sit next to his Dad when he was a small boy, he loved his Dad, he had a problem with stuttering, his Dad said he will make him quit stuttering, so he told him to put his toe under the rocker, and his Dad rocked over his toe!
I knew this man personally that whipped his Son with a barbed wire!
When my Bro was 16 years old my adopted Dad pushed him up against the kitchen wall and used his fist and hit him in the chest, it broke a big hole in the sheetrock, blood was gushing from my Bro's nose, they made me go get 2 of our Amish neighbor men, I felt horrible! Soon after that they shipped my Bro to my Uncle's place to live.
When I was much younger I went to my adopted Mother and told her something my Bro was doing, she said OH I could just throw you both in a thrashing machine! I said that would kill us! She said I don't care, than you would be out of the way! I always felt like we were in the way. After I was married and one of our Children were 7 days old, I was in the bedroom resting, (there was only a curtain for a door, so I could hear everything) my Husband's cousin was there talking with my adopted Mom, she asked her if they had any other Children before they adopted us, Mom did not say any thing for a while, than she said well the People thought we should, that was like a missing piece of the puzzle, I always felt we were unwanted, no one should ever adopt Children just because People think they should! My Parents were killed by a drunk driver when I was 2 years old, my Bro was was 3 years old, she told my Cousin that they did not want my Bro, but they had to take him if they wanted me, my Aunt told me that was not true that my adopted Parents told them they wanted both of us, after I was saved March 11, 1972 I would leave salvation tracts at their house when I was there, Praise The Lord they both got saved!
I'm so thankful you are wanting to help other abused Children, there is no one better equipped than you are for that, bless your heart!

Misty Griffin I am sorry to hear about your childhood Liz. I personally know that there is nothing worse than feeling unloved and unwanted. I am happy to hear they both got saved though. That is our goal, to bring light on such subjects. I was wondering if they ever aplogized for how they acted when you were growing up? That is usually the hardest part is the apology. Most child abuse victims never hear it and it would be interesting to hear from someone who did.
Blessings

Liz Kauffman Dear Misty,
I am so glad to hear from you again.
My Childhood was nothing compared to what you & your Sister went through,I think it was a blessing in disguise what I did go through, it helped me to appreciate my Children a lot more, we are very close, we hug a lot and tell each other we love you.
No I never did get an apology, the main thing is they both got saved.
I'm so glad you are happily married now.
God Bless You
In Christian Love
Liz
