But what about the person Emmett got directions to the lake house from? It's kind of hard to forget a hornet yellow Studebaker...
Thank you! I was stunned by the end, as it seemed sinister to put Duchess, who was unconscious, in a boat with a hole in it, but tipping the boat away from the hole with rocks. I believe Emmett had too much goodness in him to risk killing Duchess. And Duchess seemed strangely peaceful about knowing he would drown, as if it was just one more joke.
I don’t buy the author’s logic here. Putting an unconscious man in a boat with a large hole in it is pretty dastardly. And since Emmett KNEW Duchess couldn’t swim if was clearly murder. This is a novel without a hero, and not only that, the morality tale is seriously flawed!
