Parker Avrile I think so too but why couldn't he just say that? I feel dumb.

Carol Feldman Hard to understand how Shirley in the nursing home, who we never meet, has such an important role in this book. And congratulations to Jim F for figuring this out.

Joseph Bowers The book says that Peter and Wilde are second cousins. In Jim's scenario, Peter and wilde would be first cousins once removed. But if Shirley and Sofia's mother are sister, that would make Vicky and Sofia cousins and peter and Wilde second cousins. I feel like that makes more sense since Shirley is in the nursing home and Sofia seems to be much younger (still raising young girls) so it is more likely that Shirley is Sofia's aunt.

Jean Vernade Thanks Jim, it was not obvious that Sofia is Shirley ! However, it doesn't explain the contact taken by PB for a second cousin
