Ilium may have been linked to the environmental terrorists & dreamed up the idea, & they convinced the original Atlas group that they were going to a better place, tapping into their fears about earth's dying environment. That's why they were sedated during the fake launch into space. But the question remains, why did Ilium do it? What was in it for them?
I feel like there are so many meaty, unanswered questions concerning the Argos. Konstance deserves her own novella so that we may find out the particulars about her life after leaving and what really happened with that "mission."
