You have very good questions there, Jennifer! I imagine that, given the sheer amount of information in the library, there was some kind of record of her as well as an understanding of what was going on from the outside. Great question though: they disposed of that first dead person. How? Who? In what way? Did no one - not a soul - know they weren't traveling in space aside from the AI, Sybil? Did Sybil even know?? She got pretty dang angry at the end!!
Thank you for all the info! Did the book ever address how she came to have children? I don't recall her taking anything with her from the Argos besides seeds and food packets. Did I miss something?
Stacia - no, that was a flash-forward moment, describing her life in the future after her escape. You didn't miss a thing!
Elliott Fischenbacher, who died from an overdose of Sleepdrops, and whose body was sent out the airlock, "without so much as a song..."
Right, so I wondered why Konstance didn't think of trying to get out through the airlock. But maybe she didn't know where it was, and DID know where the patch was...not to mention, her time was limited.

Yes, I did glean that from my listen (except maybe I wasn't clear that the mold covered thing really was a body), but wondered if I spaced out (horrible pun intended) about the resolution of the experiment. Presumably there was someone outside the "Argos" monitoring it? Or at least keeping curious onlookers away from the building? Removing the decomposing bodies? I mean, even if Konstance stayed on as the sole survivor, the experiment would have been a failure due to the fact that after her death there would be no one. And Konstance would have had no footprint in the world (no i.d., birth record, etc) so how does she start a new life once she escapes? How does she explain, as a child, just appearing out of nowhere?
Since all of the other loose ends from the various timelines were so neatly tied off, I guess it feels discordant to leave such a glaring gap in Konstance's story. I suppose I shall just have to live with it. Sigh...
Again, I do so appreciate the time you took in answering my question!
