Oh, my gosh! That is exactly what I do. One word after another. Some I keep and some I don't. The main thing for me is to get my characters on page and talking...then book takes off with a life of its own.
Agreed, Jackie. Goes back to my film editing days. Grab some clips from the trim bin and start playing with them. Inevitably spontaneous combustion occurs and you're off and running.
