Judith Made it current yes, but not "relevant." The story of the Delaneys that is told in this book isn't about the pandemic, so this ending felt totally contrived.

Mallory True, "relevant" wasn't the best word to use there. It's more like, I can see the intention behind including it and how she tried to make it relevant by talking about how like the whole world slowed down, not just the two elder Delaneys, and how it forced them to spend more time together, etc., but you're absolutely right it wasn't relevant to the story as a whole.

Judith Guess I just keep wondering why... she had a great story, still plenty of loose ends to tie up, I was looking forward to the ending & then WHAM...the pandemic?! ugh, I felt tricked.

Fran COVID is mentioned, though.

Judith Once "Covid" is mentioned, the book becomes instantly dated, & don't think this ending will continue to appeal to anyone,

message 6: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie COVID is mentioned by name in the Brooke chapter when she is wiping down her equipment.
