Absolutely this. Many reviewers wrote that the ending bumped up their opinion of the book, but for me it took it down a star. I had been really enjoying it until then.
Holy crap that is SUCH a better ending!!
Oh that would be better! Maybe get as far as him eating the soup and feeling drowsy. I do always hate it in books when the killer decides to just reveal their master plan to someone. It just makes the villain feel cartoonish.
