Pamela Hill In America we also staff libraries with non-professionals and volunteers. It's not to save money, it's just how libraries run. In fact, most of the time non-librarians staff the circulation desks. But we do not call the circulation clerks "librarians." Librarians do recommend books, of course! But they have a lot of other duties too.

Ashley Cooprider I agree with the comment about Aidan - my heart broke for both him and Aleisha for having to care for their mother. I, too, have struggled with mental health (anxiety) but I cannot imagine it getting so bad without treatment. I hope both Aleisha and her mom seek professional therapy, and that the mom receives medical intervention. (Yes, I know it's a novel but I really hope these fictional characters receive the help they deserve).
