I totally agree that this was one of the pieces that resonated most with me. I can't even count the number of times that I've looked at job descriptions for positions of interest, and then totally discount them/don't pursue due to not meeting every single qualification. Even if it's listed as only a "preferred" qualification, I still have the uncomfortable feeling that I shouldn't waste my (or the employer's) time! I need to remember the "learn by doing" statement in the future!
