I've read most of the Volumes of WoT, and reread LOTR numerous times. Another series it brings to my mind is Thomas Covenant. All three are written excellently, creating their own new worlds, which is what we seek. The idea of beginnings and endings in WoT and Rothfuss's description of silence types reminded me style wise, but not with regard to story line.
Thank you for acknowledging the LOTR and WoT comparison!! EVERYONE is always comparing anything and everything to Tolkien or Jordan. It makes it hard to gauge a book on its own.
