Amanda The car accident is one loophole I’m still trying to close. I believe the manuscript is real; and if so, Verity staged the accident & injuries in order to be close to Jeremy because he was always more involved with the children, but now he would be forced to care for her, which was always her end goal.

Meg Ferrante The car wreck made absolutely no sense to me. I don't see how you can wreck a car and walk away unscathed and put someone from the wrecked side into your unharmed side and make it convincing. Wish someone would have caught this on edits, it really ruined what had been a delicious suspense for me until this point. After reading that (along with how she relived the whole situation in such vivid detail, something you wouldn't do to someone who already knew all the intimate details of the story), the letter started to feel like an "it was all a dream" story tactic, sigh.

Meg Ferrante Of course these loopholes (good word there Amanda) point to the letter being the fake but they are just such glaring "couldn't be" details so, the tool doesn't work for me... I'd rather both were believable so we could scratch our heads forever about it.

Krista Calfat If the letter was written for Loe to find, it was obviously Verity's last attempt to keep Jeremy for herself as it would have made it seem that he had been duping Loe the entire time. I feel that there were truths and omissions in both the manuscript and the letter and its for the reader to decide which is which

K-Vo I’m not convinced April thought Verity was really ‘ill.’ Same as with Crew, I think April knew. Just they way she acted around Verity. As for the accident, I don’t think Jeremy had anything to do with it. Verity said in the letter that he bound her, but removed the tape. I’m sorry, but removing tape will leave marks on the skin, red marks where it was removed, especially on her face. There’s no way that would’ve gone unnoticed by police or paramedics. I think Verity was just nuts. Completely obsessed with Jeremy and it just took her to a deadly place… When I finished this book, I sat still for awhile. I didn’t know what the heck to even believe. But after thinking about one thing in particular, if you’re only doing a literary exercise, you would disclose it in the beginning. I mean, why wouldn’t you? I know I wouldn’t want anyone to find that, if it absolutely was not true. Who would want that lying around without some sort of disclaimer? Definitely, Team Manuscript.

Hoda In addition, in the manuscript (if I remember correctly) she said that she wants Jeremy to find it and find the truth.

Marcin I think the Nurse was part of Verity plan. It would be much easier to pull off pretending to be catatonic if Verity payed off the nurse.
