Do you remember when Kennedy recoiled at the notion that SHE was part "black?" Kennedy is not a hero in this story. Neither is her mother. They chose whiteness and chose to carry on as if darker skin was something to be avoided. Why do you think her Haitian boyfriend dumped her? There was no more story for them, I believe, because decent people would not be interested in them any more. They had a chance to make things right. They CHOSE the racist path. At that point, only Jude, Reese, Desiree, Early, and Adele had rooting value.
