I guess I thought the fact that Kennedy wouldn't even share the fact that their grandma died with Stella, was the ending. Stella would not change/never give up the new life of lies.
They eluded in one of the chapters that Kennedy would later tell the story of being a soap opera star in a bar, drunk in her 40's. That's how I imagined her story ending.
So,,, the tragic figures are the ones who chose whiteness. Stella chose it long ago. Kennedy chose it when her Haitian beau realized she saw dark skin color as something bad. They deserve no further interest, IMO.
