Rhinnan it sounded to me like the author took the stigma attached to schizophrenia with the presentation of borderline personality disorder, more than bipolar.

Shona Parker Could be. It was just something I read in an interview with her.

Seawitch Seemed very much like bipolar disorder with primary presentation depressive episodes. Borderline personality disorder is treated with therapy not a pill. Schizophrenia starts at a later age in women and is a thought disorder. Ability to live alone in Paris, untreated, and hold a job unlikely with schizophrenia.
