The part that confuses me about the Haler case, which is who I also assumed it was, is that she doesn't recognize him. Wouldn't she be more observant? But I'm probably overthinking this.
I thought it was obviously supposed to be Hayler as well.
WOW I didn't even think of that. I don't know why, but I thought it might have been her father, which doesn't seem to be as good as it being Hayler.
