Kim Dionis Maybe read some of it and then decide? I loved this novel. The book is about much more than a predator and young girl. I'm from the US and grew up in a different era, but I still felt stunned as I read about feelings--and experiences--I'd had at that age that I'd never seen put in words. People are much more than predator and prey, as shown. I almost wrote off a tv series because I didnt want to watch a story about a man (maybe) wrongly accused of murder who spends 18 years on deathrow. But the show, "Rectify," turned out to be like nothing I'd imagined. Beautiful, funny, sublime. As was this book. I replied because I felt sad when I saw your comment. I realized how hard it is to talk any work of art without reducing it in some way. Maybe it's the culture these days too. Wish I'd been able to read this when I was young. For one, I would have realized I wasn't as weird as I thought! And I may have been better prepared to deal with relationships in general that involve power inbalances. They certainly don't end when we become "of age.". Happy reading to you, Kim

Stephanie I agree, the book turned into more. Still gave me icky feeling for teenage girls in general...it made me think...and talk to my teenager too. I am finding reading uncomfortable books opens my mind to keeping dialogue open. I can’t DNF books, this one was worth the discomfort.
