I've just finished reading the book & didn't get the ending at all. Why did John kill Rentham ? I Skimmed back through the book to try & find Peter Mercer & Annie Madeley but to no avail ! Can someone enlighten me ?
John killed him because he was going to move the coffins and the extra skeleton, that the Penny killed, would be exposed. As it was.
