I totally agree! She was totally leading us toward Wyatt and making that decision make sense, and then she scaled it back to be provocative or something, and it was silly. What we were reading was basically a thoughtful and extremely well researched romance novel, so it felt like a bit of a cheap trick at the end. Frankly, I also thought it was kind of lame that she decided not to give Winn's old flame the letter, but then she sent him the obit. Myeh, myeh, myeh.
Not the best book, not the worst. But Jodi should get herself a better editor, or not be too vain to accept her editor's advice. The physics and the Egyptology deserved the treatment of say a New Yorker article on each one, and it just got repetitive the way she kept beating us over the head with it.
