I have a keen interest to get back to my first novel, too, David. I'm nearly finished the third in a series I'm writing. After that, I've one that needs a tweak or two before publishing. Only then will I go back to number one again. I'm looking forward to that day, though.
I did the same with my novel Chain Reaction (originally 1 book 400 pages 10pt Times New Roman font single spaced.) It got split into multiple books due to proper formatting. The only change was from first to third but essentially it's the same story. It did well at first 10 years ago, now I get negative reviews. -_- I guess it depends on the market. I hope your first novel (redone) does well.
Thanks, K. P. Since I hate reading novels in the first person, my feeling is that changing to the third person probably improved the book but the market changed over the ten year period -- as we all know, it's very fickle.
Best regards,
DRJ
