Ardent Reader I thought the same. But then again, I have a question; why Charles murder Alan if Alan is dying anyway???. Charles should have waited till he dies ....

Carroll Same answer as above. Before he died, Alan was determined to ruin the success of the Atticus Pünd series. That, in turn, would have destroyed the publishing house and left Charles penniless. He had to kill Alan before he could begin doing the interviews in which he would make a mockery of the Pünd franchise

Ardent Reader Oh !.
Now got it.
Thank you.

Shalini M Alan was not dying though. The description of his illness and imminent death was the letter that Atticus Pund wrote in the novel, and Charles stole from the manuscript.
