The majority of comments on this answer are so not true. I am a former teacher and a mother. Lots of kids do not know this at 9 years old. It's certainly not a part of the school curriculum. That comes in 8th grade. I'm guessing most of the people answering this question are not around children very much.
Or from different countries?

I am from middle europe and it is 100% a part of the curriculum for everyone, not in great details for 9 year olds, but age appropriately it is taught.
It sounds like you were offended by my answer. If so, I apologize. This just happens to be a question that I ask a lot and if this was mentioned in a book I was considering for a child, I would want to know beforehand and the above is my reason.
I assume Lisa is American, Sonea. It's not news that the country doesn't teach how reproduction works 😂
