Oh my actual ... those are really quotes from the novel?! They sound like something somebody would make up specifically to sound like a total wanker. So glad I saw your comment!
I read it all and hated it. A waste of time, The guy portrays himself as an absolute hero...but he‘s just a conceited,, mediocre writer!!! Awful, awful writing.
Agree. There are parts with some beautiful writing, and so many that make me roll my eyes until they hurt. The section where they are discussing what "suffering" means. Soooooo painful. And almost every scene with the expats waxing philosophical. It's basically like watching the author masterbate. No thank you.
