Claudine Yes, it would have been better to leave the setting in the UK.

a frog in a crown Wait, there are two versions? *groan* I have the American one...

Iris Pusemuckel Absolutely right! Why did they do that, the morons?! Shame!

message 4: by Artshl3y (new)

Artshl3y I do think it's weird and unnecessary to make a separate version that takes place in another country, however as an American I never thought the behavior or speech of any of the characters seemed strange or unnatural for an American to do/say.

Amelia Bostick I HAD NO IDEA! I was so confused reading how some of the characters spoke and was totally disoriented, forgetting were the story was taking place.

gabriella HELP that makes so much sense, I remember writing in the margins as a joke "are they british or smth" after Ravi said "fancied", but i guess i was semi correct

message 7: by gabriella (new)

gabriella now i wanna buy the UK version

message 8: by Denise (new)

Denise I didn't know either! I'm Canadian, so I don't think it seemed as strange to me.

Frances Wait there's an American version???

message 10: by Madison (new)

Madison As someone who has the US version and lives close to the towns mention in the book it was annoying because none of the information relating to that area was realistic at all. I think I would’ve enjoyed the UK version a lot more

Majetta Green I find this very annoying as I've tried to purchase the UK version ebook online. Was told they could not sell it to me per some weird rule. Also, ordering the physical book takes 3-4 months to arrive. It is absolutely unnecessary to change an original book to "Americanize it". They left out part of the original text and the page numbers don't match up. I taught the book in a high school class and had the British version. SO annoying!

message 12: by Majetta (new)

Majetta Green Also, I just want the option of buying the original, not the butchered one.

Pamela Patterson I didn't notice any oddness in their language. What was strange about it
