Thank you for your thoughtful analysis. While I found this book disturbing and definitely dark, I think it's an important book, especially for parents of young daughters... just like "Everything I Never Told You," by Celeste Ng.
Yes. This is highlighted by the fact that when Vanessa's mom found out about the abuse, she didn't do anything. She just looked the other way.
