Great points! I had not thought about the fact that they were both together at her sister’s party. Of course Jules would have seen them together, or would have been introduced to him! You’re right. Thanks for your response. And you’re right - plot holes such as these are frustrating, but they didn’t ruin this particular story for me. I still loved it.
Also why does Olivia keep referring to ‘all the blood’? And Aofie’s early references to her sibling drowning made it seem like she witnessed it. And what about Pete??
I thought Olivia said that she started drinking before her and "Steven" went to the V&A party... something about either being nervous to see Jules or wanting to appear sophisticated in front of Steven?
Olivia referring to all the blood is the abortion she had. Right after she left uni, she dated "Steven", and she got pregnant. Her mom tells her that when she (mom) had a child at Olivia's age (referring to Jules), it ruined her life. Her mom takes her to the clinic. But the mom assumed it was Callum's baby, and Olivia lets her think that. Olivia knows that it's Steven's, but that he won't care or do anything. That's when she ends up drunk texting him later. The doctor told her some spotting was normal, but there was "all the blood", so it was a much more traumatic experience than she was prepared for.
I agree with Angela, Olivia was drinking heavily before the party & had to leave it almost instantly in the taxi. Also, if anyone has ever been to large parties, especially if they're held inside in small spaces, then you cannot instantly find someone to introduce them. It could take awhile just to move across a room.
