SHADOWS OVER THE VINEYARDS Anabel Lorain
The South of France. Sun-drenched vineyards. An old painting. A secret that was meant to stay buried forever.
And between it all, two people who may hate each other just a little too much to admit how badly they want one another.
Shadows Over the Vineyards is a passionate, sensual contemporary romance filled with desire, erotic tension, hatred, forbidden attraction, family secrets, and a mystery rooted in the past.
Set among vineyards, wine, old estates, and the heat of southern France, the story slowly uncovers a past someone has tried very hard to bury. An old painting hides a clue. Family secrets begin to fracture. And every new truth pulls two people closer together — even when they may have every reason to run in the opposite direction.
Alongside the passion, tension, and mystery, the story also has lighter moments, sharp banter, irony, and humorous dialogue that give the characters warmth and make the darker moments hit even harder.
If you enjoy stories where love grows out of tension, desire out of conflict, and passion out of something that was never supposed to be simple, this may be for you.
Expect: • strong love/hate dynamics • passion and forbidden attraction • sensual erotic scenes • emotional and sexual tension • jealousy, anger, and distrust • family secrets • mystery and a buried past • complicated relationships • the atmosphere of southern France, vineyards, wine, and old estates • lively, ironic, and humorous dialogue • romance where nothing is completely safe or simple
SHORT EXCERPT:
Soren’s second kiss was different. There was no testing in it now, no careful question. His mouth pressed more firmly against hers, and Anaïs felt all the tension of the past few days gather into a single touch.
Into his hand at her waist. Into his fingers in her hair. Into the way he pulled her closer, as if he had been forcing himself to keep his distance for far too long.
Anaïs slid her hand from the back of his neck to his throat. Beneath her fingers, she felt the heat of his skin and the quick beat of his pulse. It surprised her that Soren could lose his composure too. That a man who moved, spoke, and decided everything with such precision could breathe unevenly beneath her touch.
His thumb traced the line of her jaw. Then her lower lip.
Anaïs shivered.
“You’re cold,” Soren said.
“I’m not.”
His gaze moved slowly to her shoulders.
“Your body says otherwise.”
Anaïs lifted her chin. “My body isn’t telling you anything.”
Soren’s thumb touched her lip again.
“It’s saying quite a lot.”
“And you’re listening?”
“Far too closely.”
His voice was quiet. Rough. A voice she had never heard from him before.
Soren leaned toward her again.
This time, his mouth was not aiming for hers.
