THE LEGACY OF ONE CHOICE Southern Secrets — Book 2 Anabel Lorain
Maxime Delattre believes in numbers, analysis, and precise decisions.
Salomé believes in what never appears in a spreadsheet.
When they meet again after a year, Maxime is building his own project around exceptional small producers, family businesses, and people whose work deserves to survive for more than a single season. He knows how to assess production, capacity, logistics, and risk.
But in a single evening, Salomé notices something his data has missed.
“They admire expensive things all the time. That isn’t unusual for them. But the things they most often take home are the ones that become tied to something. A place. A person. A scent. An evening. A story they can tell someone later.”
One observation becomes a collaboration.
The collaboration becomes a journey through the South of France.
And the journey becomes something neither of them planned.
Among old crafts, family businesses, vineyards, the coast, and people who refuse to trade quality for easier profit, Maxime and Salomé gradually stop hiding behind professionalism.
First, they provoke each other.
Then they test boundaries.
And eventually they discover that some things cannot be measured, calculated, or kept under control.
The Legacy of One Choice is a story about passion, trust, decisions, and consequences that can remain long after the moment that created them has passed.
And about two people who may understand the world in completely different ways — but precisely because of that, they see in each other what they could never have found alone.
Expect: • strong chemistry between Salomé and Maxime • passion and sensual erotic scenes • emotional and sexual tension • intelligent banter and provocation • humor and irony • a journey through the South of France • small producers, traditional crafts, and family businesses • vineyards, the coast, summer evenings, and intimate places • the collision of analysis and intuition • trust, difficult choices, and consequences • the second book in the Southern Secrets series
SHORT EXCERPT:
His mouth left hers, returned to her neck and then moved lower to her shoulder.
She felt the heat of his lips, the light pressure of his teeth and then a softer kiss in the same place.
A breath escaped her before she could hold it back.
Maxime lifted his head, and from his expression she immediately knew the sound had affected him.
The knowledge sent another wave of desire through her, and without thinking she pulled him back.
“Don’t stop,” she whispered.
This time he did not smile.
His fingers moved along her arm, over her shoulder and then lower across her stomach to where the fabric of her dress touched her thighs.
Salomé shivered as his fingers moved slowly down the outside of her thigh and then back higher again, with only the thin fabric between them.
Suddenly she was acutely aware of her own body, every place he had touched and every place that still remained untouched.
When he kissed her and his hand moved along her leg again, the tension inside her tightened further and gathered low in her abdomen until it began changing the rhythm of her breathing.
Her fingers slid into his hair and she braced her other hand against his shoulder.
The sea struck the shore below them more loudly, but she barely heard it now because Maxime’s lips were touching her neck, her shoulder and then her mouth again while his hands moved over her body from her back across her stomach to her thighs.
Each time he returned to a place he already knew, she felt the touch even more intensely.
It was neither tenderness without passion nor passion without tenderness.
It was both, mixed together so naturally that Salomé no longer knew which excited her more.
Her palms moved across his shoulders and then lower over his chest, where she could feel his breathing quicken.
Knowing that he was no longer calm either filled her with another rush of heat and made her close her eyes for a moment.
When he touched her face, she opened them again.
“Look at me,” she said quietly.
Maxime held her gaze without a single remark, and she did not know exactly what she was searching for in it.
Perhaps only confirmation that she was not the only one losing herself in that moment.
She found it.
