Revital Shiri-Horowitz Daughters of Iraq Giveaway!
Giveaway begins April 23rd! Two winners will be picked to win a free eBook and two winners will be picked to win an autographed copy on May 23rd!

Comment to win!!

Winners picked Wednesday, May 23rd!

Daughters of Iraq (http://www.amazon.com/Daughters-of-Ir...) is the story of emigration of a Jewish family from Iraq to newly-established Israel as experienced by two sisters: Violet, whom we learn about through a diary she kept after being diagnosed with a critical illness, and through Farida, whose personality unfolds through her relationship with her new surroundings and her new life.

Violet’s daughter, Noa, a student in her twenties in the late twentieth century, also has a prominent voice in the story. Noa embarks on a spiritual quest to the past, so that she can learn how to build her life in the present and for the future. While each of the three women is struggling with her own issues, they are all looking for the same thing: happiness. They share a strong sense of family and of their deep roots, and are all inextricably linked to each other.

Thank you!

PS. If you'd like to review Daughters of Iraq by Revital Shiri-Horowitz (http://www.amazon.com/Daughters-of-Ir...) please leave your contact information, what delivery method you prefer and where you have posted your reviews in my inbox.
Thanks and good luck!

Steven Greenberg Enfold Me Giveaway!

I'm giving away one signed copy of Enfold Me - A Novel of Post-Israel here: http://tinyurl.com/c9dhkus

------------------------

Enfold Me - A Novel of Post-Israel

Written by an Israeli, Enfold Me is a provocative and dark journey into a chillingly-realistic post-Israel Middle East.

Precipitated by a massive earthquake and an Iranian-led attack, the fall of Israel rips Daniel Blum from his suburban life and scientific career. Alone and scarred, he endures subjugation and terror in Hamas-controlled Northern Liberated Palestine.

Now, Daniel must follow George Farrah, a figure from his past, deep under the Carmel mountain and through Egyptian-controlled, quake-ravaged Tel Aviv. Haunted by tragedy, Daniel strains the bonds of duty and family as he and George uncover a secret that could alter the region’s balance of power.

Pamela Olson As a counter-point to the above, my book Fast Times in Palestine is also offered for free today, July 22 (and into the wee hours of July 23).

If you want to understand the region as it is in reality right now, and not in a hypothetical future scenario, please feel free to check it out!

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00513NHNI

If the book is no longer free, it only costs $2.99 normally, and I'll be happy to send a free copy (Kindle, PDF, or ePub) to anyone who emails me and asks. But be sure to get it before August 1, because after that, I'll have to un-publish my version.

The good news is -- the reason I'll have to un-publish my version is because a year and 3,000 sales after self-publishing my book, it was finally picked up by a traditional publisher! Here's the story:

Rachel Newcomb Book giveaway! Today is the last day of my Goodreads giveaway for THE GIFT, a work of literary fiction.

Is egg donation a gift or a transaction?

Elise, a professional editor, can’t get pregnant. Her husband Peter, a graduate student in Near East Studies at Princeton, can't get over his glory days as a Peace Corps worker in Morocco.

Celia, the scholarship student who answers their advertisement for an egg donor, appears to be the solution to their problems. But when Elise decides that Celia needs a mentor, the situation gets a little more complicated.

An academic novel set in Princeton with significant parts in Morocco, THE GIFT, in the words of one Goodreads reader, "perfectly captures the singular awkwardness of creative writing workshops, the subtleties and difficulties of marriage, and the isolation of anyone who has ever felt out of place on a college campus."

http://www.amazon.com/Women-Baghdad-M...

The original blurb:

When the 2003 US invasion of Iraq starts, Soad is a young woman dreaming of becoming a doctor. Marriage isn't on her mind and her ambitious father encourages her to pursue a career. But a man unexpectedly enters her life and her family take an interest in him.

Soad's friends - Hasna and Noora are two sisters raised by their liberal grandmother. Unlike Soad, Hasna yearns for love but she falls in love with the wrong men for her. After she is dishonoured, her family repudiates her and she finds herself facing an uncertain future in a hostile society towards women like her. Even her sister, Noora, has to suffer the consequences of having covered up Hasna's mistakes.

Baghdad is plunged into chaos after the war. Unrest, revenge killings and religious violence start to take hold of the city. The three friends come face to face with their shattered dreams and their new realities. But as they go through war, loss of loved ones and upheavals, the women of Baghdad learn that defying tradition brings with it only solitude. Some of them will choose to stand by their community while others will have to create for themselves a new destiny.

Thank you!

Anna Halabi If you are into short stories about the lives of women in Syria, check out the collection: Syrian Brides by Anna Halabi

The ebook FREE on Amazon tomorrow, December 2nd.
https://www.amazon.com/Syrian-Brides-...

Some stories are really shocking, about the violence and the brave women enduring it. Others were funny and socially critical. The stories address several issues in the Syrian/Arab society such as violence at home, polygamy, the subduing of wives, the importance of appearances, fair skin and blue eyes etc.

Definitely a good read!

Tamara Agha-Jaffar I am running a Kindle Countdown from December 2-4 on my historical fantasy novel, https://www.amazon.com/Gilgamesh-Uruk...

Gilgamesh, son of the goddess Ninsun and the mortal Lugalbanda, is the arrogant king of the vibrant city of Uruk, a sprawling desert metropolis. In an attempt to quell Gilgamesh’s oppressive behavior, the gods fashion the wild man, Enkidu, to be a companion to the king and to calm his errant ways. The two form an inseparable bond, embark on a wild misadventure, and commit a series of blunders that offend the very gods who created Enkidu. What happens next sends Gilgamesh on an epic journey to find his ancestor, Utnapishtim the Faraway, to learn his story of survival and unlock the secrets of immortality.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar FYI: If anyone is looking for a book for #4 of the challenge, an author from Iraq, my novel, Unsung Odysseys, which retells the story of Odysseus’ return from Troy through the voices of women, has just been released as an audiobook. This is the blurb:

Unsung Odysseys explores the story of Odysseus’ 10-year journey home from Troy through the multiple voices of the women embroiled in his adventures - a distraught mother, a patient wife, a devoted nurse, a benevolent witch, a possessive nymph, a love-sick princess, and a loyal goddess. In words expressed with heartfelt clarity that convey timeless messages, these women have finally broken their silence to share their perspectives on an epic hero’s adventures.

To hear a sample, go to https://www.amazon.com/Unsung-Odyssey...

My other novels:

A Pomegranate and the Maiden retells the story of Demeter and Persephone through multiple voices;

Gilgamesh of Uruk retells the story of the epic hero Gilgamesh of Mesopotamia.

All three books are now available as e-books, audiobooks, and paperbacks.
