Thank you for feeling so much warmth in the book. Emmett and Hummer’s friendship begins so simply and becomes something much bigger; their bond gives the story room to explore change, loss, and saying goodbye while remaining, at its heart, a story about Love. I also appreciate your recognition that a child may see a beautiful friendship while an adult may find something deeper. The tenderness you found in the story gets to the very heart of Hummer and Emmett: absence does not erase the bond, or the Love, that was there. Thank you for such a thoughtful reading of HUMMER & THE BOY.
