Thank you for such a wonderful review. I love that you shared HUMMER & THE BOY with your fifth graders and that it opened a discussion about “life, friendship, and loved ones.” The passage you singled out holds the message at the heart of the book and was written to offer something readers can take away and hold in their hearts. And your calling the book a “MUST HAVE” and “a gift to the reader” was incredibly generous. I was also touched that the story brought you back to memories of your grandfather, and grateful that you shared something so personal. For a writer, few words are more meaningful to receive than “The writing is outstanding.”
