notgettingenough I wonder how many reviews they have done this to.

Manny I don't find any similar mails, I think this is a response to a user complaint.

Magdelanye ten years after?
for such a great review

message 4: by Jeff (new)

Jeff @notgettingenough: twice for me 🤷

At least one GR user believes INNOCENT CHILDREN COULD READ THIS REVIEW and INNOCENT CHILDREN MUST BE SHIELDED FROM NAUGHTY WORDS, eg, asshole and Trump.

message 5: by Manny (new)

Manny Aw, you're all so nice.

message 6: by Austin (new)

Austin Get ‘em, Manny. Jeez.

message 7: by Manny (new)

Manny Thank you Austin. I'm just showing that I believe in the finely tuned Goodreads system of checks and balances. Justice will ultimately prevail.

Rick also deplores censorship As I write this, your revised review already has 34 likes. That is 32 more than any other posted review of this book. I would be interested to know if the complaint was over 'dirty words' or the Trump fill in the blank or both. Let's hope this review stands. The world needs the humor.

message 9: by Manny (new)

Manny I suspect the user complaint may have been checked by an AI. In general, AIs hate taking unnecessary risks, but they are logical, analytical, and always capable of understanding a reasoned argument.

Now that I've explained the point of the joke, they will be reassured that their own interpretation was indeed the correct one. They've noticed by now that many people lack a sense of humour, and know it's best not to assume anything prematurely.

Jim Word to the wise Manny; Don't mess with The Mouse!

I'm sorry, that's not an appropriately respectful way to refer to President Trump. I have learned my lesson.

message 12: by Brooke (new)

Brooke Perfection, Manny.

message 13: by Manny (new)

Manny Thank you Brooke. I have now reached the step in my ten step program where I'm apologising to the people I have wronged, and I can tell you that I already feel better.

message 14: by Jim (new)

Jim I'm guessing your review was found by a Disney AI bot... they're very protective of their products

message 15: by Jason (new)

Jason Ten years an still no winner.

Manny That's what happens when they sign you up to Project Sisyphus.

message 17: by Max (new)

Max Love your apology, Manny. Hope that squares things with GR.

message 18: by Manny (new)

Manny I'm sincere. I hope they see that. I mean, how could anyone grovel more than I did?

message 19: by Liedzeit (new)

Liedzeit Liedzeit One of my reviews also has been deleted a while ago. I was really shocked when I received the message. It was not easy for me to even see what it was that had offended somebody. I guess I’m a racist and the ones who not even know they are are the worst.

message 20: by Manny (new)

Manny Don't feel bad, Liedzeit. It took me ten years to realise that I'd accidentally accused Donald Trump of being a puppy murderer. He probably thinks I did it on purpose and he'll never forgive me - I was wondering why I hadn't been invited to either of his inaugurations.

I bet that one of these days you'll realise you did something similar.

message 21: by Socraticgadfly (new)

Socraticgadfly I was treated far worse on Yellow Satan. The second time I bitched about obvious political-driven review bombs by wingnuts, Amazon gave me the old Mafia horse's head in bed treatment. Deleted ALL my book reviews there — except one.
Never forget that Yellow Satan is now the sole owner of this place.

message 22: by Manny (new)

Manny Hey, at least they didn't make you drink hemlock.

message 23: by Tim (new)

Tim Robinson I learned the hard way that an author may be a pompous ass but the reviewer is not allowed to point this out.

message 24: by Manny (new)

Manny I would say it depends on how you do it. Those exact words are probably not the best ones.

message 25: by Eric (new)

Eric Incidentally, I just found out today that our 47th president doesn't keep a pet dog in the White House. His predecessor had four, three German shepherds and a tabby cat.

message 26: by Manny (new)

Manny Eric, I really hope you're not insinuating anything here. There are many reasons why a busy man like Mr Trump might not have a dog.

message 28: by Manny (new)

Manny It's been a while, hasn't it?

message 29: by Eric (new)

Eric Manny wrote: "Eric, I really hope you're not insinuating anything here. There are many reasons why a busy man like Mr Trump might not have a dog."

Hi Manny. No, just a tangent I found surprising and interesting. I do wonder if he's a cat or a dog person though.

message 30: by Manny (new)

Manny I found a page which claimed Trump has never had any pets. Except, I suppose, for Penthouse Pets™.

message 31: by Manny (new)

Manny (I am not sure the ™ symbol is actually required, but as you can see I am trying to be on my best behaviour in this thread).

message 32: by Dean (new)

Dean Landers Maybe it is because you insinuated Trump is female. He, his lackeys, or his aspiring lackeys would probably feel better if you'd used Governer Ratcliffe as the obvious equivalent. Both are obese, racist, and obsessed with gold. But then you lose cleverness points for picking two characters from the same Disney movie.

message 33: by Manny (new)

Manny If only I could even remember why I had picked Cruella! I will visit my local café and see if they have madeleines.

message 34: by Susan (new)

Susan Hilarious! Great review

message 35: by Marianne (new)

Marianne Manny, and this is wht weekends were made for. Thank you.

message 36: by Manny (new)

Manny Thank you, Susan and Marianne. And no puppies were harmed in making this review.
