Christine Whittington I loved Nicholson Baker, but above all, as a lifelong academic librarian, his essay in the New Yorker about the destruction of the shelflist at the New York Public Library. "Discards." New Yorker (28 March 1994). The story was also included in his book, "Double Fold: Libraries and the Assault on Paper."

Lenhardt Stevens Amazing. I know he had an institute that collected old library materials. I'll need to check out this essay.
