I’ve seen the movie but actually didn’t realize there was a book.

I spotted it in a local bookstore and grabbed it on a whim. There's nothing whimsical about the book, though, as you'd imagine since you've seen the movie. It's only 67 pages, easy to read it a single sitting from a page-length perspective, but it's hard to get through. The emotional trajectory is entirely one-way – steeply downward. (Which I get, but it was still a difficult read.)
