I'm the author, so take this as a pitch straight from the source.
Holion is a standalone sci-fi novel about consciousness. The short version: a man discovers his awareness isn't locked to his body, and he descends through layers of reality that turn out to be stranger than the one he left.
There's a character named Walter. He's the theorist who needed no door. Rumpled, chain-smoking, never went to college. Built bridges for a living. And by pure thought, he worked out the whole dimensional-descent cosmology before anyone else even saw it coming. He's my favorite person in the book, honestly.
One line from the book that says what it's about better than I can:
"You are connected to your body, not bound to it."
Content-wise it's clean across the board: no profanity, no sexual content, just some mild supernatural/action violence.
This isn't a thriller. It's a book about what consciousness is, and what happens when you stop assuming it ends at your skin.
