I’m especially touched by what you said about Cassian. He is absolutely possessive, terrifying, and one bad threat away from committing several diplomatic incidents, but everything he does comes from loving Elara with the desperation of someone who already knows what it means to lose everything. The fact that you saw the survivor beneath the Vampire King means so much to me.
And I’m not going to lie—hearing that the moment with his hand on Elara’s belly made you cry got me. That quiet connection between Cassian, Elara, and their unborn child was one of those scenes that mattered deeply to me while writing it.
I also love that you noticed how their relationship has changed. By this point, they aren’t trying to figure out whether they love each other. They already know. Now they have to figure out how far they are willing to go to keep that love—and each other—alive.
Apparently my answer was: make everyone suffer.
