SOLVED. Kids' Short Horror story. Woman reads fortunes from the feathers in a person's pillow. Read in 1980s. > Likes and Comments

Read this short story in the 80s in a compilation of kids' horror stories, could be much older. Old timey setting. An old woman can read the future from the feathers in a person's pillow. There were three stories. A woman brings in her daughter's suitor's pillow; she thinks he's no good. The woman predicts he'll lose his hands in a noisy place, and he subsequently loses his hands in a factory accident (though still has a relatively happy life). Another guy brings in his own pillow and is told he'll be successful, but he'll lose an eye, which comes to pass (he gets an eye poked out on a corn stalk). In the last story, a woman brings in the pillow of her beloved nephew(?) named Buster Bare, who had always been bald. The woman is told the pillow has no future. Buster, who'd been eavesdropping, runs outside in horror and is immediately trampled by a horse or something. I remember everything but the title.

I think the book you’re looking for is The Feather Reader by Ida Chittum! It’s from a collection titled Tales of Terror.
Let me know if that’s it! Fingers crossed 🤞
