I am an author with a book that cross-cuts a few genres. It's interesting, unique, getting great reviews.... but it's almost impossible to categorize. I wonder what this group thinks about the western being placed in different contexts.
The plot of my novel: Music-obsessed marauders kidnap a violin prodigy, only to be hunted by the prodigy's father across a brutal wasteland.
The book is set over a century in the future, but the downfall of society has led us back to a horseback existence similar to the late 1800s. Despite being a post-apocalyptic tale, the story follows a classic western. What does everyone think of books like this?
