Let's keep the conversation going for a bit! Big Book Summer wraps up on Monday, so what are you going to read this fall? And what kinds of books do you enjoy in fall?

This is the 11th year I've participated in RIP (Readers Imbibing Peril), which just means reading darker books in fall, whatever that means for you (whether horror or cozy mysteries or dystopian or whatever).I also enjoy participating in two Booktube events: Series September and Shorty September (reading books under 250 pages) - that's especially fun after all the Big Books!
So, I have a stack of short, dark books (some from series) as possibilities for September. Here's my video about my Sept reading plans: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tl7tc...
My first book for RIP (and Series September) is also my last book for Big Book Summer: Burn by Nevada Barr, part of her Anna Pigeon series.
And I just started Missing Clarissa on audio (about 270 pages but still much shorter than what I have been reading!
I just want to reduce the number of books on my "reading" list on Goodreads. I've had too many books that I've started and needed to return to the library before I finished. Of course, this means I'll have to start at the beginning because most have been on the list for years. This was one of my goals at the start of the year and I did a great job of getting slim books moved to "read" but there several books that would qualify for your summer challenge, Sue.
I am also doing series and shorty September. I will also be finishing my last big book of summer. I still have 300 pages left and we have a busy weekend planned.
For September I'm reading as many short books as I can--I've piled up about 30 books and will be happy if I can finish 15, or about 1 book every other day. I'm not doing any of the prompts, though. Right now I'm going through Volumes 3, 4, 5 and 6 of The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion and they're flying by--I really love this series. For me October is all about Victober: just a few big 19th century books and taking my time with them. I've got that pile ready, although there can always be a last-minute substitution. The two books I'm most looking forward to are Aurora Floyd by Mary Elizabeth Braddon (a woman with a secret!) and Marion Fay by Anthony Trollope. For some years I've been working on reading all 47 of Trollope's novels and I think this will be my next-to-last one.

That happened to us last summer with an audio book - had to get back on the wait list and wait another month to finally finish it!
Sounds like a good plan, Linda.

Busy weekend with our sons visiting, and I have a little under 200 pages left of my last Big Book - but it's very fast-paced and is a "quick" read. Enjoy the weekend and your last book ... and your September reading!

I don't plan my books around the Shorty September books, but I do enjoy seeing where my books fit in the prompts after I read them (i.e. low-pressure approach!).
Enjoy!
I am participating in Series September again this year. Currently I'm reading From Notting Hill with Love Actually by Ali McNamara Book #1 in the Actually series, which by the way I didn't even realize was a series until I added it to Goodreads. I'll also be reading Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder by Joanne Fluke #1 in the Hannah Swenson Mysteries. In October I plan on reading Jane Eyre and Divine Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood. I like to read mysteries and darker books in the fall. It just seems like a good time of year for that.
Sounds like a fun season of reading ahead for you, Tashinka, with some great series! Also, Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood is fabulous! An old favorite of mine - you're in for a treat!
I have a lofty plan for Fall. With so many new books published it is hard for me to exactly pin down any particular book. The Disappearers by Marlon James, Land by Maggie O'Farrell, Mystery Play by Elizabeth Kostova, Partita by Barbara Kingsolver. But as they say Best Laid Plans.......I hope everyone has great Fall reading ahead.
I'm participating in Shorty September (like Big Book, this is one of my favorites). It's a good way to try and knock a few books off my personal TBR shelves. (Mount TBR here on Goodreads is another one of my annual challenges--I'm attempting Mount Blanc this year and still have quite a bit to go.) I'll likely read at least one book for R.I.P (Readers. Imbibing. Peril) and Victober, but those challenges aren't as much of a focus for me. If it happens, it happens. Of course, there's the Booker Prize longlist/shortlist (I cannot resist a book prize list) and finally, Nonfiction November, another favorite!
