Ellis Crane Credit to Mosley - I think its hard to keep a series fresh while keeping the mystery and suspense in each book and on the whole the Easy series manages it better than most, showing Easy maturing and developing, and society changing, while the mechanics of the books stay the same. They feel a bit less repetitive to me than some of the more recent Lee Burke Robicheaux books where the plots- the supernatural and Hollywood phobia can be very similar. (Or more recently the IQ books which I think faded as the character seems stuck and the ideas don't quite live up to the promise of the original conceit).
