I love to pull this book out every so often to enjoy a story & remember when I first read it. In my late teens/early twenties I was gifted the paperback version when I said it was my favorite tween read. But when I found the hardcover at a tag sale, with her image in the pink coat. That was the one that sparks the memories the most. Probably because it was the coat that initiated the trip.

Aww, I'm glad you found the hardcover! Back when I first saw the book in elementary school, I didn't know the coat was pink. The cover of the school library edition had a black and white and blue version of the artwork that, naturally, didn't do it justice. 😅 I didn't actually read the book until middle school, when the 1980s reprint edition cover, with Shelley and Philip under the tree, caught my attention.

Now my nostalgic side finally gets to appreciate the 1950s pink coat cover as much as I want, even if the edition I personally have hasn't got that cover. 😊
