Excellent review! You articulated what I felt about the book so well here:

the emotional weight of the book seemed to come from circumstance rather than from a relationship that felt truly lived in. I wanted to see how two people would handle the test of time, difficult choices, and real challenges together. But when so much of the book keeps them apart, it became hard for me to fully understand why they loved each other beyond the intensity of their connection.

The description "cosmic connection" makes me skeptical off the bat!

I don’t understand why these relationship tropes are even successful. Do we romanticize dysfunction? I’m currently reading “ One Golden Summer” and boy is giving me all kinds of red flags 🚩 as far dysfunctional dynamics go. Sigh 😔
