I thought escaping to Camp Arrowhead as a counselor would finally give me some peace. I was ready for pine trees, camp songs, and zero sports jocks. But due to a massive counselor shortage, the director dropped the ultimate, cruel joke on me. I’m trapped co-leading Cabin Four with the exact guy I swear I’ll never forgive. We have to wrangle nine hyperactive eight-year-olds, manage chaotic taco-bar food fights, and run rock-climbing tournaments together. To keep our jobs, we have to pretend to be a perfectly happy, coordinated leadership team. But behind closed doors, we drew a strict line down the middle of the room. I’m determined to keep my walls locked up tight, but between the late-night whispers through a thin log partition and the sudden, dizzying butterflies every time he steps into my space, my athlete defenses are completely short-circuiting.

I appreciate the apology, but I'll admit this felt rather unnecessary and ultimately unkind.
I'm sure you're correct grammatically speaking; however, your proposed title doesn't have the same feeling as the author's.
Furthermore (and this is just my opinion), sometimes—especially in creative writing—breaking the rules of grammar to convey a feeling or tone matters more to the story as a whole.
